Shortly after 1 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, officers from the New Canaan Police Department stopped Norwalk resident Sandro Toro-Diaz, when eh was spotted driving without a license plate on New Norwalk Road.
According to police, while speaking with Toro-Diaz, 28, the officer detected signs of impairment and Toro-Diaz proceeded to fail Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and he was taken into custody. At New Canaan Police Headquarters, Toro-Diaz submitted to a breathalyzer and his blood alcohol content was at .152, nearly double the legal limit.
Toro-Diaz was arrested and charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was also cited for failing to display a license plate. Toro-Diaz was released on $250 bail and scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, Feb. 4 to respond to the charge.
